Cricket Journey Of  Virat Kohli

when the West Delhi Cricket Academy was just starting out In 1988 , a young Virat Kohli was one of its first students. He learned the things of cricket under the guidance of Rajkumar Sharma.

Virat made his cricket debut in 2002 when he was still quite young. He began with the Delhi Under-15 team in the Polly Umrigar Trophy. He performed so well that he ended up leading the team in the next trophy. He continued to impress and was selected for the Delhi Under-17 team in the Vijay Merchant Trophy, where he was the top run-scorer.

Debut In T-20

When he was just 18, Virat played his first professional match for the Delhi senior team against Tamil Nadu. Unfortunately, he only scored 10 runs. In 2006, he represented the Under-19 Indian cricket team during their tour of England, and India won both the ODI and Test series. The following year, he made his T20 debut and showed his skills by being the highest run-scorer in the Inter-State T20 Championship.

Debut In ICC

The year 2008 was a turning point in Virat’s career. He not only captained the Under-19 Cricket World Cup-winning team but also got a youth contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Furthermore, he made his debut in international cricket.

In 2009, Kohli replaced Gautam Gambhir in a tri-series in Sri Lanka due to an injury, and in 2009 ICC Champions Trophy, he batted at 4 because Yuvraj Singh was also injured. His excellent performance in the tri-nation ODI tournament in Bangladesh in 2010 earned him praise from the captain, MS Dhoni.

The highlight of his early career was being part of the Indian team that won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. In this tournament, he became the first Indian to score a century on World Cup debut.

Kohli’s Test debut against the West Indies in Kingston didn’t go as planned, as he struggled to score runs. However, in 2015, he achieved another milestone by becoming the first Indian to score a century against Pakistan in a World Cup match.

During South Africa’s tour of India, Kohli became the fastest batsman to reach 1,000 runs in T20I cricket, doing so in just 27 innings. During the ODI tour of Australia, he also became the fastest to reach 7,000 runs and score 25 centuries in ODIs.

In 2017, as the captain of the Indian Test team, Kohli achieved another remarkable feat by becoming the first batsman to score six double centuries in a calendar year. He finished the year with an impressive 2,818 international runs, making him the third-highest Indian run-scorer in a single year.

In August 2018, he reached the number one ranking in the ICC Test rankings, making him the seventh Indian batter to achieve this honor. In October 2018, he became the first Indian and the first captain to score three successive centuries in ODIs.
