BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover is facing more problems. The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police has asked Grover and his wife, Madhuri Jain, to appear for questioning regarding an alleged fraud of Rs 81 crore in their fintech company. They are supposed to go to the EOW’s Mandir Marg office on November 21.

Official sources mention that this action is in response to a complaint filed by BharatPe. It’s worth noting that this development comes after Grover Share a post on X that he and his wife were halted at the Delhi airport while they were on their way to New York for a holiday. The EOW has officially confirmed the summoning.

He said that they were stopped after a lookout circular was issued against the couple. The Economic Offenses Wing had filed an FIR in May against Grover, Madhuri Jain and their family members Deepak Gupta, Suresh Jain and Shwetank Jain in the alleged Rs 81 crore case.

BharatPe has alleged that Grover and his family caused a loss of approximately Rs 81.30 crore through illegitimate payments to advisors, inflated prices through vendors and improper payments, fraudulent transactions in tax credits and payment of penalties.
If found guilty in this case, Grover, Madhuri and others may face imprisonment ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment.

Last year in December 2022, BharatPe had filed a civil suit in the Delhi High Court against its former MD and co-founder Grover and his family. It sought compensation up to Rs 88.67 crore for alleged fraud and embezzlement of funds.

The 2,800-page lawsuit alleged that Grover, Madhuri and other family members created fake invoices, enlisted fake vendors to provide services to the company and overcharged the company for recruitment.

The controversy involving Grover was highlighted in the news last year when he was accused of using inappropriate language and threatening a Kotak Group employee over his alleged failure to secure allotment and funding for the Nykaa IPO for himself and Madhuri.
